Rob Zombie made me ashamed to be a horror fan.

Mobsters are another one. In any Socrcese film, the mafia come accross as omnipotent as the Illuminatti.

The mobster, the hitman, the serial killer. The types are invincible, invulnerable, immortal. Occassionally omnipotent.

Better to be evil than nothing? Who says the alternative is nothing? I wish I could see such philosophical nuances in these films. It would give the mind something to work with. As is, all I really see is sadism.

K. I will admit to being a watcher of The Food Network, and even a fan of the program mentioned by this columnist.

But the combination of "Food Network cake judge" and "Rob Zombie" tells me everything I need to know about his credentials as an edgy horrormeister.

The concept of certain films as endurence test is relevant I think. It played a huge role in my own filmgoing expereinces, and ceased being a factor only relatively recently.
