Frank, I think you're talking about an item that appeared in Entertainment Weekly with Spielberg noting he had approached Cubby Broccoli many, many years ago and been rebuffed. This was before Indiana Jones. Spielberg doesn't show much interest in Bond now, stating that his action movie days are behind him.

On the other hand, Peter Jackson has said outright he'd love to direct a DOCTOR WHO. Maybe one written by Gaiman?
