I meant Yellow Sub the song. I always liked it, though, and the album is splendid.

Are you enjoying your thread, Frank?

Before I forget, beautiful poem Frank. I am sure Susan appreciated it
Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristrocratic forms. No gov't in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, gov't tends more and mroe to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class

Ummm . . . the Yellow Submarine album has its moments, but as an album of rich and various music, it doesn't hold a candle to Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, or even Rubber Soul.
War is, at first, the hope that one will be better off; next, the expectation that the other fellow will be worse off; then, the satisfaction that he isn't any better off; and, finally, the surprise at everyone's being worse off. - Karl Kraus

This is just a "me too" post about the poem, Frank. It is beautiful, moving: words better than I could ever write, and I second markabbadon's sentiments. I'm sure that Susan appreciated it.

Fuck, are you mooks pulling my chain? I confess to writing that poem in about five seconds, no joke. Sometimes the muse does a hit and run. With me that is saying something. Thanks, anyways.

I don't think Susan likes me. I want her to like me. I have a thing for english woman. Don't tell Harlan.

Frank, no chain pulling here, that was an amazing 5 seconds worth of work! You are righteous with your words, man. That wasn't a hit and run, that was a 34 car pile up on the freeway! :)

Susan's demeanor has seemed friendly and reserved to me, when I've met her, (all of two times) and she is very, very kind and thoughtful. I think that her post on the web said it all -- she likes friendships that grow over time and doesn't do the American thing of jumping in feet first with "I'm your bestest friend"! I won't tell Harlan if you won't.

Harlan was mum about the poem, so I have my doubts.

Nah, the poem, as cited above, was a nice gesture and well done.

Take my less-than-authoritative word on it, Harlan was "preoccupied". He was mum on a lot of things, no insult intended I'm certaintude.

Frankie, I think he kinda fonda you.

Well, he did use my poetic aside on his essay about the Butterfly Effect.

Certain Webderlanders soured on me after that. hehe.
