Which I agree with to some extent. Having the ability to edit during a relatively narrow time window might be useful and would lessen the ability to abuse (much like how the delete function currently operates).

The big take away though is for everyone to make a habit of using the preview function prior to submitting. It gives you a chance to proof and gut check before sending possible problems into the ether. :)

Please consider a "Forum Wish List/Things That Need to be Fixed" forum. Might help consolidate all this good, productive conversation

Also:

Two Barbers are confusing. I suggest a "Moderator" ID much like Rick's "Admin" identifier. We know that our Moderator is to be responded to differently than we would respond to Steve Barber, the Webderlander. Anyone helping out with Moderator function could use that icon when necessary. For now I am responding to both Steve Barbers as Moderator.

I concur.

I can agree with that.

Unfortunately all of my old posts, of both kinds, are now marked as Moderator with a new avatar.

From now on the dalmatian is me posting as myself.

Clear as mud?

That'll work, Steve, especially since you've made well over 101 posts as the dalmatian.

Yes, but the avatar for those posts is now...not the Dalmatian.

Yes, it will be confusing for a short time. The vast majority of the posts I've made -- now identified as Moderator -- weren't Moderating posts.

But every change starts with a...change. :?

True dat.

I once had a Dalmatian named Pandora. (This was during the 1960s when you could still allow your dogs out to roam the neighborhood.)

She would often disappear for an hour or so, and when she got home had no interest whatsoever in her dinner.

Found out shortly afterward that she had self-appointed herself to the role of Official Mascot at the local McDonald's, where she would wander amongst the patrons mooching bits and pieces of burgers and fries. She had become a regular, apparently...

Hence the double humor of the Hamburglar.
