Female voices, the simplest whisper

Tends the leaves, in the garden of my mind

A belated "Welcome Back" to Gwyneth and Neon. This is a nice poetry corner, isn't it?

I'm still alive after that cancer scare. Back to work.
I was being honest in that earlier post when I said I wanted to live.
But
Hmmmm
My bad attitude toward life hasn't changed, and writing is now dry as a dinosaur bone.
Shit
Rob is all fucked up because Harlan had no interest in his writing.
I'll tell you folks a/ secret that I would never share with a day to day friend.
I was hoping that the tumor was lethal...it would be a way out of this place with honor.
Fuck if I'll ever kill myself, I figured a few years left, with good drugs to kill the pain, not such a bad deal.
Nope, not for me...I'm destined to live a LONG life in pain, Rob can go fuck himself.
I've got nothing new, no new writing, it's gone dry.
So anyway, back to the soul sucking slave job on Monday.

My advice to Rob was sincere, time does fix most things...most of them
But not all.

Tim:
Glad to see the cancer was just a scare. Talent does not just go away. You've hit a dry spell, but I think that's temporary. Give it time.

I know all about soul-sucking jobs. I just got home from mine. It's not the worst I've ever had.

Like Chuck, I get the soul-sucking job thing. Last week was my final week in one. Utterly horrific for the last six months in particular. But you get through these things.

Don't press too hard on your writing. It will come. You've had an extremely emotional time and that probably put a tap on it temporarily.

Heed Chuck. Chuck is a wise man.

Your body isn't the only thing that can die ya know. Call it what you will, it is what makes you more than a bag of chemicals. Please do your best to keep that alive as well

If you choose not to, come to SF before it dies. I'd like to meet the Tim who currently resides in my world.

Glad the cancer scare was not cancer. Now, give me a couple days and I will repost Chinatown Breezes, and a couple more I suspect you may enjoy the perusal of.

Post Mortem

Giants are always falling around us
We enjoy watching them smash to the earth
and observe those small ones
just like us
that are crushed (under the stone goliaths) without note.
a million statistics
as Stalin once stated
that had not so very much worth.

Death makes me hungry for stink
So hungry for stink
rotten
rotten
crispy
oozing
ugly
fucking
stink.

Rick, as promised, my villanelle:

Those Glorious Years

Faster, cried the barb to the tip of the spear
I’m hungry for blood but I’m fixed to the rear
Continue my advance in this glorious year...

Hot murder relentless with no quarter given
Salty flesh caught and torn; on both sides unforgiven
Faster, cried the barb to the tip of the spear...

I want it, I need it, my first taste of blood!
I’m forged to this spear far too close to the nub
Continue my advance on this glorious year...

Dead quiet arrived when the cold settled in
Both armies destroyed, but which one takes the win?
Faster, cried the barb to the tip of the spear!

The final thrust was delivered and the counter struck clean
The barb was now blooded, his enthusiasm weaned, he said
Continue my advance in this glorious year!

Behind each twitching foe, a great host did appear
Many voices from the past and the present rang clear
Faster, cried the barbs to the tips of their spears
Continue our advances in these glorious years!

Wait, wait, wait.
Now I've got it. It's finished.

Hey Tim!

It was a real pleasure to meet you on Saturday. And like I said, your poetry's awesome.

I'd like to add to what's been said about "soul sucking jobs" and their drain on creativity. Here's the thing: I've been WITHOUT a job for nearly two years now, and believe me, poverty is no passepartout to the kingdom of creativity!

Making a living is a part of life, and one thing I've realized, after seeing many friends succeed at things they are passionate about, is that there are as many ways to "make it" (whatever that may mean to you) as there are people to make the attempt.
