Your morning routine

Postby Lori Koonce » Fri Sep 14, 2012 11:46 am

OK, so this is a strange question, but you all know me well enough to know that those are my favorite ones.

What three things do you need to get your ass going first thing in the morning?

I used to just get up slap some clothes on and get my morning going. Now I find I cannot function without a Starbucks coffee, a smoke and Welcome to the Jungle by G -n- R.

So, if you feel comfortable with it, please share yours.

Hmmm...it depends on the day.

Usually three Advil, a hot shower and a cup of coffee.

Not at the same time.

You know I'm one of those people who wakes up and is ready to go. I do favor a stiff cold glass of orange juice in the morning but I can't say I need it. Of course I pay for it in the evening when my "switch" turns off. I get this from my Dad. We're either wide awake or unconscious. No transitional period. He's still this way at 82 so I guess I'm branded.

Well, let's see...I get up early evening, late afternoon. The last couple of times I made myself an omlette and toast, with orange juice and coffee -- the elixir of life. Then I check e-mail, maybe Facebook and look around here and another site I frequent (if there's time). Tonight I walked over to Subway and got an Italian BMT and iced tea. Then coffee.

With my schedule, it's coffee or ass-dragging. The last three nights I've had actual eight-hour shifts. I've been working tens and elevens so this has almost felt like a vacation.

I notice when you oversleep you feel all dopey. Your body gets used to certain sleep times. For some reason I slept today like a rock.

Coffee, a nice bit of greenery to stare off into. Bliss, actually.

I put the alarm clock in another room so I'm forced to get up to turn it off. Then, coffee and a newspaper. The paper's delicious. . .

It's changed over the years, though a couple of things have remained constant.

Coffee, Donna's smile, NPR.

Insomnia. Not my morning routine, but couldn't help note the event.

Barber, I'd suspect it was concern over Frankie the cat.

Had student nurses show up this morning. They made real drip brewed coffee and had creamer. Drank so much of it that my case manager said she was gonna tell staff I couldn't have any more today.

Silly woman, she don't know that I know where every coffee pot is in the building, and who will make me a pot for next to nothing!
