All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Some people are wedded to their ideology the way nuns are wed to God.

not so much "personal" meaning, but the aug. riots in egypt, OWS, and guess who occasionaly bring to mind;

"So wait for the army of kiddy-winkies
And terrible tiny tots
In armoured school buses
Firing poison pea-shooters
And sinking their milk teeth into your thighs
Delapsus resurgam! when I fall I shall rise! "

:lol: always puts the smile back on my face.

"I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely

Seems that I was busy doing something close 2 nothing
But different than the day before
That's when I saw her, Ooh, I saw her
She walked in through the out door, out door"

frank;
wow, quite the range, that boy...

"And he bit the usherette's leg in the dark
Excitable boy, they all said"

-some lyrics skipped for gentler sensibilities-

"And he dug up her grave and built a cage with her bones
Excitable boy, they all said"

eeeeeww. :cry:

Crazy Lemon by Joe Ely. It's a great song so I am going to suggest y'all Google it and listen to it. "They call me the Crazy Lemon, I'm crazy, wild free." Joe rules.

You remind me of the babe
What baby? the baby with the power
What power? power of voodoo
Who do? you do
Do what? remind me of the babe

(And I believe he's referring to Prince...in a Zevon sort of way...)

Mike cannot understand just how deft that Prince line was in Raspberry Beret. "She walked in through the out door." The girl was different--she didn't play by the rules. She wore a beret of a color you normally don't see. The symbolism is great. Beats any so called poetic lyric by leagues.

So you say it's not okay to be gay
Well, I think you're just evil
You're just some racist who can't tie my laces
Your point of view is medieval

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch

i'm suprised at you frank;
just because prince's pov isn't mainstream, there is no need to refer to him as daft.
i thought you weren't big on symbolism. :roll:
besides, i looked up the lyrics... there were no cigars. :?

Frank

Please tell me when we voted you in as a person who speaks for the Left?

While I understand the need for both symbolism and irony, I don't make them the core of what I believe or a standard way of speaking or thinking. Life itself is pretty damned complicated, and it is sometimes more than enough.

Besides it's the symbolism and irony that is causing a shitload of the worlds troubles, wouldn't you say?

A good reason then to use it.
