Song Lyrics that mean something to you

Postby Lori Koonce » Wed May 02, 2012 12:44 pm

Ok, so I was online with a friend yesterday. He's 6 years older than I am and started complaining about getting old. So I sent him the following lyrics from A Jimmy Buffett song Called Growing Older(But not up)

I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let the winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm living
Than live when I'm dead.

And as I typed that, it struck me that I really need to make those last two lines a more active part of my life.

So, I was wondering if anyone out there has lyrics like that and is willing to share them with me ant the rest of the gang.

Guys, I'm REALLY uncomfortable with the wholesale reprinting of copyrighted lyrics here. Excerpts, fine, but not whole songs.

Please?

So that's why you modified my Zappa lyric before! The funny part is that was only the first verse. It was a looooooooong song.

Point taken.

So if possible delete my last post.

Hear the wind moan
In the bright diamond sky
These mountains are waiting
Brown-green and dry
I'm too old for the term
But I'll use it anyway
I'll be a child of the wind
Till the end of my days

Ask the mirror on the wall
"Who's the biggest fool of all?"
Betcha feel small
It happens to us all.

Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And
Which is an Illusion

Everybody wants 2 tell what's already been told
What's the use of money if U ain't gonna break the mold?
Even at the center of fire there is cold
All that glitters ain't gold"

We'll scorch the earth
Set fire to the sky
We stoop so low to reach so high
A link is lost
The chain undone
We wait all day
For night to come
And it comes
Like a hunter child

Remember me? I used to live for music.
Remember me? I brought your groceries in.
Now it's Father's Day, and everybody's wounded
First we take Manhattan
Then we take Berlin.

"Imagine..."
We don't stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.

"I'm the cobwebbed stairs, the ancient bones
I'm the shadow rippling cobblestones,
I'm the stagnant swamp, the black lagoon
I'm the branches scratching at the moon
I'm the funeral service, the unknown mourner
I'm the demon cowering in the corner
I'm the sexton's spade, the new thrown clay
I'm what's left when they walk away
I'm the ebony coffin, satin lining
Pale thin lips in the back room dying."
