Happy Birthday, Mr. President!

Postby Duane » Thu Aug 04, 2011 2:10 pm

Getting ready to post a birthday message on my facebook page, but first I have to steel myself for the inevitable birtheristic anger that will no doubt be directed at me from my well meaning relatives who haven't had the good sense yet to "ignore" me. I'll post their juicier responses here, but I'm not expecting many. We'll see.

It's odd. You wouldn't believe how PROFOUNDLY OFFENDED some of my family is that I'm not a tea partier. I may actually lose family over this. Most of my real life friends will understand, and even my conservative but profoundly snarky brother will nod in an appreciative way. I'll just do my best to make it positive, funny, relevant, and NOT AT ALL political or confrontational, although at least fifty people I know will shake with rage when the official presidential portrait shows up on their screens.

No?
- I love to find adventure. All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

If they were truly your family they would still love you.

Odd but not unexpected. Tea Partiers have been throughly schooled that they are on the right side of things and anyone who isn't is too throughly interested in destroying America to be respected or taken seriously, even if you're a family member.

Frightened people become gullible and stupid and easily led, even into believing by giving up their opportunities and rights that they will actually be strengthening them.

I look forward to the responses you might garner, but in the same way that I eagerly want to find out that a famous person my age died of a reason that I'm not likely to.

Steve, YOU ARE THE MAN! I missed that one today! Frank (also THE MAN), yep, they will; it just makes for uncomfortable moments at family gatherings. Sam (no doubt THE MAN, as well), The Onion is an embarrassment of riches. Here we go!!

I'd love to get into Barack's brain. I just don't understand how that dude thinks.

>> I just don't understand how that dude thinks. <<

Easy peasy. He's a Centrist who leans right, perhaps more out of political necessity than personal wont. To me, it makes the blatherings of the A.M. radio Right seem more dishonest and unhinged. He's actually done things they've liked, but as one of their TP lawmakers du jour pointed out, "my job is to make [him] a one term President." Nothing else needs to be considered. Not the economy, not our troops, not any forward-looking vision for our country's future. They just.want.the.man.out. Why do you think Limbaugh still (as in last Friday 8/5/11) refers to him as "our Imam in chief"?

(Edited to add peasy to easy.)
