"You've outsourced the customer support WHERE?"

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/80bea ... exoplanet/

So, it seems there is at least one other planet in our galaxy in the so-called "goldilocks zone", where liquid water, and thus life, can exist. From the article, it doesn't seem terribly likely, what with the planet tidally locked to constantly face one way toward it's sun, still it's intriguing.

I can just see the call centers being built there as I type this. Of course, your hold time will be measured in YEARS, but then doesn't it anyway?

But if conditions are right, maybe it could evolve...with a little help. A couple capsules filled with bacteria. . . Who knows? I'd back such an undertaking.

Like Vonnegut's story in ADV, The Great Space Fuck.

That story would be great for high school classrooms. Pitty no board would allow it. . .

The Vonnegut story we got to read was the one where the Professor discovers a way to develop the power of telekinesis by repeating a phrase in his mind. He puts an end to the military and sends the phrase to a student in case he gets removed by the powers that be. Can't remember the title. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Yeah right up until the Vorlons cry "biological warfare!" and hit us with everything they've got.
