Harlan Ellison's near death experience?

Postby Complex » Sat Apr 24, 2010 2:14 pm

I was watching some time ago on Youtube "Dark Dreamers featuring Harlan Ellison Pt. 2" and at one point Harlan very vividly describes near-death experience. Something like this: "Once you stood at the Death's door and that's not a trope... Door of death there was a fog on the other side and this strange figure, not very pleasant figure was [doing gesture] and I was like 'Gee this is really interesting I'm having a synonym, a homonym for death isn't that amazing' but it scared crap out of me and I don't scare easily..."

So is Harlan Ellison implying life after death or am I missing something?

I think he may have just been referring to his bypass surgery.

Actually, I believe it was his heart attack.

I could be wrong...

I stand corrected. Just watched the video and it's clearly while he was under the knife.

I hadn't seen this in a while. Very cool to watch again.

Has anyone asked Harlan about this recently on the Pav?
