Barber

To Frank's credit, he sorta lives in a comedy backwater. Other than Drew Carey I can't think of many funny people of either gender from Ohio. I could be wrong about that as well.

It's more valuable to consider why such a question is asked than to treat it seriously. (Would we be comfortable asking which race is funnier or which gender is smarter?) Even if we refine the question to ask which gender produces better stand-ups (a subjective determination if ever there was one), the question is meaningless if we don't examine the culture of stand-up and who gets to play.

One other point: not everyone identifies as strictly male or female.

Sexism explains it, obviously. Women don't have to be funny, but they do have to work harder for the same pay, especially women of color.

I've always liked Degeneres' stand-up, not so much the tv fare. Same for Whitney Cummings. I have always liked Paula Poundstone, Lily Tomlin, Sandra Bernhard, Janeane Garafalo and Sarah Silverman. I also have a Moms Mabley album, for street cred.

I was never a fan of Elaine Booslyer (sp?), but a joke she told once has stayed with me forever.
On the diffrence between the sexes, she said was talking to her boyfriend about shopping, and that he could get some black pants at the store they were in. He said, "I already have a pair."

Took me years to get that joke. Much of it is a gender thing, I do believe.
The medium is the message.

No, we are not a comedy backwater. We have one of the top comedy clubs in the world--Funny Bone, Newport KY, right across the bridge.

Did you know the late Jonathan Winters was born in Ohio? So was Jim Backus. Arsenio Hall as well. We are no backwater. At least we are not pc like Frisco. Put up them dukes gal. lol

I cannot think of another comic who so consistently made me laugh till I hurt other than Carol Burnett. Some came close, but...

Carol Burnett, yes. But you have to add Tim Conway to her secret weapons.

Have you see the video of Ms. Burnett losing her skirt on Broadway? Or John Barrowman's reaction to it?

My go-to if I'm in need of a laugh.

OK, let's narrow it a bit:
Who does FART JOKES better, men or women?
I have to think men have the corner on this one. We fart louder.

Those aren't jokes, they're gassers.

The entire team she worked with were funny. I cannot watch the send up of Gone With the Wind that she and Hardy Korman did with out busting up. And who couldn't identify just a little bit with Vicki Lawrence's mama?

Men do fart jokes much better, because we have a larger diameter sphincter, generally speaking, which is louder and flappier. Except for certain ex-wives and girlfriends of mine, who tend to be outliers, stastically.

Did I spell that right? I'm a bit gassed myself at the moment...

Tim
