You mean William Hurt's character, said the William Hurt fan.

Incidentally, Broadcast News is only rated 7.0 on IMDb. Really? Was I one of the few who saw the cut that was wonderfully acted, funny, clever, and prescient? I see IMDb staff gave it 8.2, but, ahem, WTF?

p.s. Yes, I know opinions are like a-holes. Just venting.

You are correct sir, I had William Hurt's face in my mind, yet I still typed Jeff Bridges name

That rating for Broadcast News on IMDB is FAR too low

While I enjoyed Broadcast News, I can't say I'd rate it higher then a 7 or 8. And prescient? I suppose. But others beat it to the punch. One that comes to mind is the Max Headroom TV show.

I use the IMDb ratings more to gauge public approval than to measure a work's quality, which I really don't think we can do with art, anyway. But I will continue to be irked that Broadcast News generates less enthusiasm (at least among IMDb users) than, say, Lethal Weapon, released the same year.

I didn't mean to imply that Broadcast News was groundbreaking, as Max Headroom was. But its satire has proven apt in these days of artifice as reality.

I felt Network was definitely prescient, especially the the direction the news was going that eventually led Uncle Walter to leave CBS news. It was also a portrait of the terrible power the medium could have over people.

Still not sure what Palin will do now. Word has it she was denied a radio gig, I suppose Faux could make room for her, but is she able to carry an entire show? I mean, they already have one bugfuck nuts commentator in Beck, do they really need two? Waitaminute, I have it! A combined host show between Beck & Palin, they could title it, Mother, Juggs & I Used to be on Speed (Beck is a recovering drug addict).

I see a cartoon spinoff, action figures, this is gold I tell ya, GOLD!

Cartoon spinoff? That would be redundant.

Action figures? They do enough damage standing still.

But since 20% of the nation thinks they're for real, you'll make a billion. Sad but true.

Beck is a recovering drug addict? Hell, no, that Mormon cocksucker is on something.

A trained monkey can be on the radio. Have you heard the people that have radio shows? If she can't even get a radio show then she is beyond dumb, she is Motley Crue girlfriend material.
