For ONCE, I now wonder if a scandal wasn't a blessing in disguise.
I'm really impressed with Paterson. He's obviously a strong guy (surmounting such obstacles as being legally blind), and he has progressive ideas. And he looks like a really nice man. I think he'll be damn good for New York, damn good for the country, and potentially cementing the national tone for a possible Barack Presidency (ie, clear and easy acceptability of a black leader).
I'm still worried about McCain. If Paterson shows strides in the next 2 years, it could very well help deal with that concern.
Good riddance, Spitzer. You may have done us all a favor.
