We're back, Folks!

Thank you thank you thank you, Rick!

Halle-freakin-lujah.

Just when I thought I would actually have to do some work during the day
Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristrocratic forms. No gov't in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, gov't tends more and mroe to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class

Perhaps recovering from a post-Memorial Day hangover?

Actually, while this is true, I've been caught up in conf call after conf call with a combination of regular Monday and Tuesday morning stupidities. It's like "Whack-a-mole" on steroids.

Oops. Here comes another one in fifteen minutes. Time for a bio break.

Sure Barber, blame the conference calls. Speaking as an HR person, I am sure Verizon has a good Employee Assistance Program for you to talk to...

Hope you and Cris had a wonderful weekend,

Mark

We're founding a new group: CCA. "Conference Calls Anonymous.

(Seriously, I've been on three conf calls and one hour-long training on a new rollout. And I've got two more calls this afternoon.)

(But... I digress.)

Yeah -- we had a great time. Cris had gigs on Friday (packed house) and Saturday.

(The second was a kind of weird private party -- an 18 year old girl's "coming out birthday party" with 300 guests at the LA Biltmore Hotel. Didn't know they did anything like that anymore -- and Dad's in serious trouble if this was just a Brithday party. The wedding's gonna kill him!!!)(Really. We're talking the boys in tuxes and girls in formal gowns!)

That, a couple of days of doing nothing but "us" days. That's when we knock around the house or maybe do some shopping, moviegoing, etc.

(BTW - Finally watched PAN'S LABYRINTH. Wow.)

How 'bout you? How was the weather up North???

Restraining myself from making any comments about 18 year old girls "coming out".....

Have not seen Pan's Labyrinth yet, but have heard nothing but positive comments from those who have seen it.

Had a good weekend. Spent some time with a friend on Friday night, hung out with some other friends on Sunday, and had my children on Memorial Day. We went to a park off White Bear Lake and my 4 year old asked me if this was the ocean, as it was the largest body of water he had seen. I told him it was not, but his reaction to seeing the Atlantic Ocean when we visit Atlantic City next week should be priceless.

Weekend/back to work...

Postby Laurie » Tue May 29, 2007 1:57 pm

Spent the weekend alternately sleeping and swimming, needed to relax after some tough weeks at work. Then came back today to cope with a violent student who shoved me hard and ran for it, trying for an escape, following a girl who had just run for it. I yelled for the police but did not want to pull my alarm (sets off the clamoring you sometimes hear, Steve) because I didn't want to stir up some other young people who were being escorted down the hall. My usual assistant was out today and the substitute assistant did not call the police because, he stated, he had not heard from me a specific account of the student's violence toward me and had not witnessed it. Grr....I was furious but calmed down in time to do the immense amount of paperwork this whole mess entailed. Was now unable to file charges against guy who shoved me because I had not brought the police in on it so it would have been his word against mine. Runaway kids brought back grinning, no charges filed against the kid who shoved me.....Should have set off my damn alarm, will next time. Meanwhile, I made a reservation for a short vacation to take place in a week or so. I need a break.

What? The forums were down? It sure didn't seem like it, although I thought everyone was ignoring me after a while.

Oh my Laurie you have had a harrowing few days. Tickles her nose with a long white feather to set her spirits at ease. Remember, they are tomorrow's adults. Eeek.

Ah.

The freedom to respond to something of great social and political import before it gets buried in two pages of flame-war slapfighting one post a day at a time. Whoo-Hoo!

To wit:

"Marvel Zombies"

I thought it was cute, especially when everyone tells Spidey to quit his bitchin' because they've ALL ended up eating people they loved.

I'm actually reading Image's "The Walking Dead" right now...

 ZOMBIES FREEZE SOLID IN THE WINTER!!!
