that is a part of the story. ..sorta.
there are many cultural and economic factors.

the only thing cheaper team sport than basket ball is stickball, you don't need a court or basket. not even a real ball, a rock can serve.
the harlem globtrotters were an outstanding influence there.

polo ponies are expensive, not alot of actvity there at all.
golf course use is expensive if they allow you on the course . clubs ain't free. same with tennis.
there was a surge in play after arthur ashe, tiger.
i just saw a documentary on black surfers in the last month. interesting views on a long and wide scope there.

Here's how ultimately loopy our society has become: In Tampa during the Naz-I mean Republican convention the Governer is actually banning water guns but not real ones, where you can pack them under your coats.

There will be the usual free speech zones, police thuggery, which I am sorry to miss. Hopefully my bud Jello Biafra and others will hold down the forts.

Obama needs to use a pool cue on Ryan's knees. Playing hardball is the new normal.

Another guy who takes the fire and sticks to the breach is Tim Wise, race expert. This is a great podcast interview about Race and Obama. He does a decent takedown of Progressives who like Ron Paul:

I'm going to start calling my bud Chomskers Naive Noam because he recently went on a public access tv show that has had on Holocaust deniers, truthers, Larouchittes. I will show the video but it's really a waste of time:

I know he has my stance on free speech, but his time is too precious to go on this shit. I sure in the hell hope the Palestinians stopped listening to this guy.

Yes but how often those quick little wars turn into quagmires.

Ah the War on Drugs, the gift that keeps on giving!

Here's the crux, as it may relate to everyone else: "There is no Fourth Amendment violation because Skinner did not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the data given off by his voluntarily procured pay-as-you-go cellphone." That's what Judge Rogers stated in the in the majority opinion, where he cited the Stored Communications Act. The law hamstrings the Fourth Amendment in relation to wire and electronic communications — noting that the use of third-party providers diminishes a person's expectation of privacy.

Read that over and think about that.

Aha, this goes back to my worries about copyright--the government will be spying on all our cells so as to catch one dumb kid downloading Eminem.

Frank Church's new law: Any law that is not made with a fully above board democratic vote is a law that should be ignored.

The girls group Pussy Riot get 2 years in Russian prison for a prank in a church. Beyond the disrespect of the savior Russia is turning into a very bad place for free expression.

Today I am for pussy.

I'm not disagreeing with the sentiment, Frank, but let's get some perspective. Except for maybe a few months in 1917, when has Russia EVER been friendly toward free expression?

OK I had a joke that took advantage of Frank's reference, but I'm too shy and modest to use. (Blushes)

The new single released in response to the verdict is inexplicably catchy.

Imagine the absurdity of a modern state being frightened by punk rock? The former KGB thug Putin learned nothing from the USSR it seems. Some analysts think Putin is trying to cozy up to the Russian Orthodox Church which has always been willing to collaborate with whatever regime that presented itself looking for the privileges that accompany state power. The sad fact is that the majority of the Russian people support the crackdown on dissidents. They like a firm hand at the helm. You should see the video of Putin "campaigning" in the last rigged election strutting and shirtless, the big macho stud. Such stuff would probably get laughed off the stage here. We like our politicians dumb and pious. A combination of Eisenhower and Billy Graham. How a Muslim Socialist got elected is beyond me. :?

It's been a bad day for dissidents. Lost in all the Pussy Riot news (for which our govt is probably very very grateful) the Bahrainis sentenced dissident Nabeel Rajab to three years.

I mean it would be rude to criticize our gracious hosts would it not? Sure this little shithole and the other big shithole Saudi Arabia will be the last to go down but when they do we are going to be really really regretful of our duplicity.

India's going down! Good God, imagine how Mitt Romney will fuck this country up.

The cool thing is Obama doesn't have to lie, Ryan helps make truth poison.

It seems Obama did more for the economy than we thought. Or at least according to Michael Grunwald, author of the New, New Deal.

Ryan supporting a stimulus is a gas. And that rape comment from that rube in Missouri is classic. I am really displeased with centrists like Clair McCascal, but that guy would have won.
