Lust Is Blind

Postby robochrist » Tue Nov 22, 2005 7:22 pm

I don't know if I oughtta be sharing this...but I have the hots for a girl who...

Calls the Simon Wiesenthal Museum stupid; thinks Steven Spielberg is a pedophile because he has so many kids in his movies; slapped five with a friend when the 9/11 towers fell; and has psychotic mood swings.

Testosterone always has the last say.

Oh, yes...clearly my dark days are over.

You realize that you've just forfeited any moral authority you've ever claimed to have...

Brian,

After I get her into bed I'll find my moral authority. First thing's first.

"They say" such women are reeeaaaalllly wild in the sack. Luckily, you have some ready-made excuses to avoid the whole "committment" thing.

Oh, NO, Duane! THIS is LOVE! I mean this is "the REAL thing"! I AM this woman's SLAVE! Her lusting bootlick! Her CAPTIVE for LIFE1

When she tells me to do something I DO it! When she says those dopey things I AGREE with her! And anytime she bends over I can't sitdown for HOURS! Saves the bills on all that damn porno.

...and the UNIQUE thing about this little 31-year-old honey is that she dresses in repressive black; clothes that reveal NOTHING. But she has the sexiest lingerie I've ever seen: 3 thongs, skimpy black lace, and this crotchless spandex that you could only find in a Love shop!

I know every piece of underwear she owns. And it allows her to win ANY argument. She's ALWAYS right as long as she keeps waving these things in my face.

Oh, yeah...THAT'S love!

Rich,

I'm afraid both Duane and Steve are - well - an AWFUL lot smarter than you are. But then we ARE talking about Cary, NC.

Rob, you've embarrassed yourself many times before, and this cringe-inducing thread is no exeception. If Duane and Steve also want to be perceived as having the social I.Q.s of 12-year olds, that's their choice.

The story of "unsuitable" or "irreconcilable" love (whichever word comes closer) is at least as old as that of "unrequited" love. Ellison visits the theme in "She's a Young Thing and Cannot Leave Her Mother," a worthy effort to explore the limits of an otherwise untenable attraction. I think everyone's had an experience being attracted to someone whose moral and emotional behavior they cannot actually countenance otherwise.

DVG,

"I think everyone's had an experience being attracted to someone whose moral and emotional behavior they cannot actually countenance otherwise"

...with major league emphasis on the EMOTIONAL...IMPOSSIBLE to figure out...

...and I have to tell ya, it can HURT!

An additional thought sparked by DVG's post, it behooves me to point out I've left out a million details about this here lady and the stupid comments she makes at times.

Best to wrap it in droll plastic hyperbole than to dwell on the pain.

The thing to remember, and this is something Harlan has hit on at times, is that there are always clues. The woman you are involved with is in constant communication with you, whether you are listening or not.

I was involved in a "train wreck" relationship several years ago. In the course of a single first date, I learned that she:

1> Regularly cursed at her parents over trivial incidents
2> Lied about her income to get a nice but rent controlled apartment in a comfortable area downtown
3> Listed her parents' address on her insurance form in order to avoid a much higher insurance rate on her car
4> Goldbricked at her job so much she was on the verge of getting fired, and
5> Told me I could kick her cat if it bothered me.

Can you say "problems?" Of course, I couldn't see the big picture she was slowly revealing to me. And instead of allowing me to dupe myself into a deeper relationship with her only to have it all explode in my face (not a sexual reference), she broke it off. I got off easy, I tells ya.

She sure was cute, though.

***

Yes, it does hurt. In my case, it was the shattering of illusions. I pictured her as "the one," etc., while she was trying to give me the TRUE picture. Ouch, indeed.
