Getting Frozen Out

I've noticed recently, in certain online photo-hosting places, that certain types of pictures will cause a variety of browser-seizures and complicated plug-in issues that lead to hours of start/restart attempts, cache-clearing, control-alt-delete bailouts, etc. It only happens with a particular type...

Re: Dream about Harlan Ellison

Harlan has not appeared in any dream of mine for several years. Are you certain that it's him?

I am Kevin (Kirby)

Sorry, I always freeze up at this point. Okay, for one thing, I lived up in Cloverdale at the same time as the actress Lana Clarkson. That's sort-of interesting because, after we lost contact in 1975 or so, we both moved down to Los Angeles at about the same time. We were very close for a period; pe...

Three Days 'til PacifiCon

Lots of fun to be had, for one and all, if one finds oneself in the area of Santa Clara this weekend, and all that.

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

The original term "Glass Goblin" can have a different meaning for each reader. If a person can be thought to become a "goblin" by way of habitual lawbreaking, and if such transgressions consist solely of the activities described in the story; then wouldn't one's persona become, l...

Lesson from the Depths

As it now appears that the gushing crude-crisis has reined itself in, something comes to mind regarding the various elements involved in this matter. Basically, in retrospect, extending the known facts into the realms of future possibilities/probabilities -- what's going to happen to all those under...

Random Errata for the Host

Here's something that came up today on an official blog:

Presumably, any Ellison appointments would show up in these books, somewhere around with the date(s) appearing for Coburn.

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Thanks for the reply.

As for the "Stages of Grief" concept, I wonder if it would help to draw up a chart, like a list of which stage one is in -- for whom, and how for many.

As in; ten "denials", six current "acceptances" and so on.

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Really sad news regarding Alan Coil: from visits to this site, I feel a lot like I knew him. What a shocker. Still in various stages of grief over numerous people at once; is this why the mind so often goes south in old age, for so many? It gets hard to collate it all, after a point. Now as for Lana...

Picking Nits about Nada

Why do some people still refer to direct-to-video productions as "B-movies" in some cases? Possibly there is an explanation to be found in Corman's shift to the home format, sometime in the Eighties between Deathstalker and Barbarian Queen. Even though double-bills had been all but wiped o...

First Stab at a Clarkson/Spector Movie

If the rumour can be believed--and if the BBC actually goes through with it--plans are already underway for a film on Lana: http://www.ksro.com/LocalNews/Story.aspx?ID=1220105 If you ask me, one of the inbred freaks in the Rollins movie "Wrong Turn II" might fit the bill as a Spector. And ...

Re: As "The Red Skull" -- Hugo Weaving?

As I recall, without going back to look at the actual source materials, the Red Skull's mask was expressive enough to actually change in relation to surrounding events. If such is the case, a cgi mask would beat out an articulated prop any day of the week, hands down. And the thing is, nowadays, suc...

Wait -- that's the Ghost Rider (not any Night Rider) sporting a skull head with flaming effects on it!
