Even as we speak, the two factions are having it out with crisknives and slingshots. A third faction, those devoted to the Next Generation, waits patiently on the sidelines as the old Trekster Corps devours itself. For some, the idea of a Kirk without Shatner provokes frenzied hair-ripping and wild ...

e pluribus recta

Well, for one thing: Star Trek XII -- Planet of the Salt Vampire?

It seems very unlikely, though. The new film's producer has already declared his version to be totally alternate-universe-like from the old shows.

I missed the one on gas tax.

But then, I'm only the guy who solved Martain Crustal Dichotomy, explained away Mercury's Caloris Basin and the Lunar Maria, located the "Missing Water of Mars" and claimed GRB's to be the result of distant matter/anti-matter collisions.

News about the in-progress Trek Flick, a movie due in theaters one month ago but thankfully pushed back until May, keeps trickling out in dribs and drabs. A deep link to one of the wallpaper pics available in the official website: http://www.startrekmovie.com/downloads/desktop.php?file=d13_1024.jpg&...

Six of One, a Half-dozen of the Other

There's a hereditary link to Cheney, but not to Chaney.

There was, however, this blink-and-you-miss-it thing that appeared during the CNN broadcast of the inauguration:

Cheney ==> Chaney

According to genealogy, Cheney was the original spelling -- with the Chaney branch beginning here: http://www.geocities.com/wells789/hezekiah.html There is a small chance that those shared (between the President and former VP) Duvall ancestors from France also extend into the Chaney tree and thus, p...

Nice Try

We all knew about that already:

Try photoshopping one to get closer in texture to the other. Or better yet, morph.

Hollywood by the Bay

If you've been wondering wondering what Hollywood Blvd. (or a similar downtown theater district) might look like a few decades after a thermonuclear exchange -- then look no further! Here's a video of one such place, which kinda makes you wonder what happened here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLQ...

Save the Norway

As a one-time adopter of some pet rats from the Lower Haight, I must support PETA on the issue of the wild urban Norways. In two short years, I learned that these small creatures are far more personable than the vast majority of people; perhaps even more intelligent, as well. While I'm not in favor ...

Abu Nidal was a lot of things to a lot of people. But no international affair ever occurs in black and white. Without O. binLaden and the U.S. 9/11 response, would the world have known as much about Iran's thermonuclear intent and the major powers behind that whole brew-haha? Why did the subsequent ...

The Video Mystery: Clues and More Clues

I'm getting more ten-minute segments processed and posted. I had to redo part three yesterday, and now it appears that part 7 might also require a second chance. At least I'm getting some hands-on experience with this stuff, in terms of the time it takes and the steps required for posting Hi-8 from ...

Search for the Missing Writer

So I finally got six parts of a twelve-part interview posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIVWsEOzjrU What started as two hours of random gack on a second-hand videotape now becomes a series of ten minute digitized fragments that were recorded perhaps more than a decade ago. It sounds like the in...

Who's read Duma Key? Anybody? I'm starting it, getting a few minutes in during the interminable exportation phases of my rudimentary video digitization experiments. It helps pass the time, and so far it seems an okay read. Will it be causing fear issues in the later chapters, I wonder? As my current...
