Yeah, although I'm not sure what's "excellent" about it. Looked pretty grotesque to me.

>Does anyone know why Ray Bradbury is'nt on the World Con guest list? I hope its not due to some petty squabble over money.<

Squabbles over money are only petty if the amount being debated is. I for one hope Bradbury's appearance fees are so high that none of the Con organizers would even attempt to bother him. Ray should ask for 50K, no less, with a limo, suite, and hottie handler. He deserves it all, and if it means raising convention tickets, great, that keeps the cheapos out. And let me tell ya, nothing ruins any kind of gathering more than the presence of nickle-squeezers.

>Far more dangerous is the fact that we (the progressive people) are offering the masses no real viable alternative<

This notion of the "masses," and how they need guidance and wisdom from we wise ones, is hopelessy elitist, and considering who's making the assumptions, hiliarious. The idea of a group of webderlanders running the government is as equally terrifying as seeing Cosgrave's blue shirts swarming the Capitol.

Viewing people as all members of some large, ill-informed group called "the masses" is the road to fascism, my friends. And is it my imagination, or is Webderland increasingly becoming like nothing more than a nursing home porch, with scowling cranks moaning about how the good old days are gone, and the world is going to hell?

If your biggest political problem is George Bush, then you don't have a political problem. Get on a plane and visit any of 60 countries to see what destructive leadership really means.

Nostalgia/apocalypticism. The twin foibles of the aging, dullard mind. Know thyself, Mr. Bleasdale, and let the great unwashed alone.

>but oddly, Coulter seemed muted, not seeming to know who Koch was<

Or maybe she didn't feel it was worth having a discussion with someone who's manner of introduction was to equate her to a Nazi sicko.

Just a guess.

>there is no longer any value at all in exposing oneself to the mainstream media<

Was there ever? Eventually one comes to realize that "mainstream" anything is not where one wishes to swim. At first it's disheartening, even frightening, to understand this. But soon it becomes liberating.

So you find your niches of common interest, and hang in those little corners (like Webderland). And you don't worry, care, or even contemplate who reads or enjoys Ann Coulter.

Detach.

You always know a good Ellison post when after reading it, you spend 15 minutes on Google. Koch I knew, Ma Barker natch, but not Bathory!

>Keep thy eyes open, for imminent announcements<

I have to comment that announcing impending announcements is something of bad habit in this business.

When there's actually something tangible, something that truly exists in real time and can be purchased and owned, then let us know.

>Would dearly love to see a DANGEROUS VISIONS type magazine<

Online might be the way to go. Offer one story for free and the rest via subscription. It would take a while to generate an audience, but initial production costs would be a lot less...you wouldn't be losing money with every issue, since it's just data sitting on a server; the only cost is maintaining the web presence, which is pretty cheap.

Another advantage for subscribers is having an archive of all the previous material right at hand.

No Rob, most people here are pretty normal. You are seriously immature, as your past postings have all-too-sickeningly revealed, but that's common in skiffy fandom.
