Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Ah, Frank, Candlestick Park. I probably spent a couple years worth of afternoons in that big cold concrete bowl, and I remember most of them fondly. I grew up watching Willie Mays and Bobby Bonds crashing the fences and robbing hitters of homers. I saw Willie McCovey hit balls so impossibly high, yo...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

...and Noamie, a super hero for the loser. Hmmm, does that, by some sort of skewed logic, make Ayn Rand a super hero for the winner? Sorry, that's the sort of rancid butter that churns in David's little mind when he doesn't get enough coffee in the morning. Expect nothing less of the ugliest man in...

Re: They Got My Card Number.

I've had two unrelated credit cards hacked over the years. No harm, no foul. Just odd charges that the credit card companies noted were "suspicious" and they called me to check. Cancel the old, mail me the new, and I wasn't held responsible for any of it. My wife's ATM card has been hacked...

Re: Wathcya watchin'?

Saw "Super 8" last week. SPOILER ALERT, but considering that virtually any of the regular Webderlanders are intelligent enough to figure out the "mystery" of this movie well before the end, I doubt if anybody should care... Okay, can you say "ET", but with an alien that...

Re: They Got My Card Number.

...and I ended up getting evicted from a few really nice places in Sacramento that I've never even visited. Well, I think that's a case of selective memory, young lady! What do you mean "never even visited"? The stories are almost legendary! That one place, the plastic bucket, the Costco ...

How long does it take to get the results, and what can be done if you have Lupus? Steve, lupus is a poorly understood immune system disorder that may express itself differently and to different degrees in different people (predominantly younger women, and a greater percentage of blacks and Asians),...

Re: Frank's pop culture minute.

Nah, Pink Floyd was never one of my favorites. Just...dull. And I have a difficult time respecting the musicality of a group whose songs can so easily be figured out in about 10 minutes of tinkering on a guitar by any accomplished player. Sorry, no talent there...only image.

Re: Webderland Wine Seminar

Hey Lori, not just sake, I'm actually not that familiar with sushi either. I'm one of those sad souls who goes for the "California roll" and not much else. If you can teach me some things about sushi as well as sake, we'll have to make a date one of these afternoons. Actually, there's a ki...

Re: Webderland Wine Seminar

While the discussion is branching out and getting ethnic any Sake fans out there? Know nothing 'bout it, 'cept one time I had a cup, as recommended by a friend who invited me to a wonderful Japanese dinner, and it was very pleasant indeed, but would love to learn much more. Pray tell...can you prov...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

McCain has always been more or less a moderate. His apparatchits convinced him he needed the far Right (lunatic) wing of the Party to win, so they tagged Palin... I agree, McCain has a well documented history of bucking the knee jerk right wing policy makers, but then caving in to them when it was ...

Re: Wathcya watchin'?

I'd love to get Seconds , but it's out of production and the price is going up. And that's a dirty shame. A nearly forgotten masterpiece of science fictional suspense, arguably the finest soft science fiction film ever made, a powerful bit of acting on Rock Hudson's part (in a rare opportunity wher...

Re: Webderland Wine Seminar

Interesting comments on retsina, but there's a bit of misunderstanding. I'm Greek (I'll tell y'all about how I got the Jewish name some other time...), and I grew up drinking my share of retsina, both traditional white and occasional blush. It's not always sweet. Depends on the grapes (and therefore...
