Re: You probably want to read this one

Moderators are responsible for making sure people follow the rules and play nice. I will expand the original rules and the moderators themselves can decide how they way to modify the existing ones or add new ones. If someone doesn't read more than 1-2 forums, they can be a moderator for just those. ...

never mind

NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE SEE THE OTHER POST ABOUT THIS NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE Okay guys. Two things. THING ONE. Moderation. Steve is done. He was done a while ago but I cajoled him into staying a while. I am calling for volunteers. You need to be able to handle the job without being insulting, di...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Wow, Harlan banned Tim Raven for a year! That was a nasty little letter Raven penned. I doubt the rugrat really cares. I think it was 6 months minimum. Not sure what the deal there was. I generally don't mind if people double post if there's not an intervening post. The rule is mainly there to prev...

Re: Liberty vs Security

What I want to know is who is the brave soul among us men who is willing to go through security wearing a bra stuffed with plastic explosives (or whatever would be scary enough to make bras become the new sneakers).

Come on. Someone has to be willing to take one for the team...

Re: Defeinding bad behaviour (part 2)

why is it that some people choose to treat people online in manners that they never would if that person was sitting across a table from us. Renaming the "Bulletin Board" to "Unca Harlan's Art Deco Dining Pavilion" was a very specific choice, and I think you can see why I chose ...

It's kinda stubbly right now, result of leaving my razor in Nawleans. I'd recommend either letting me get a fresh shave tomorrow or waiting 3-4 more days until it's not like a brillo pad.

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

How often does that I have no mouth and I must _____ come up? Is it just your first post in a day or something? I'm pretty sure I put that in there, I just don't remember doing it. Well, I guess I vaguely remember doing something LIKE that. I'm just so happy the dumb question on the Pavilion cut out...

Re: MadCon

I like what you did with the Pav. Pictures of our Harlan. Aww. All Jan. But very good choices, I think. Captures the gamut of how we see Harlan pretty well, and the sketch is perfect. I am going to miss the Billy Ray version though. I may code it where it comes up 1 time out of 6 or something...

I got to meet Gene Wolfe shortly after STOREYS FROM THE OLD HOTEL came out, and our conversation was basically me saying "You are a motherfucking genius. No, seriously, you are a motherfucking genius." for about 2 minutes straight. Here was a guy with some seriously profound and just some ...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

The Cards have always had an excellent farm system. When I was growing up the Arkansas Travelers in Little Rock were their A team (I think, maybe they were AA for a bit). But I'm sure you're aware that as talent evaluation has gotten more attention, especially earlier in players' careers, that farm ...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Yeah, Mark, I was going to mention if you look at the lineup their 4th and 5th best hitters (and maybe 3rd and 4th on a given night) have hit in the .250-.275 range all year. What made the Cardinals so dangerous the last couple of years was even if their 5th-8th hitters didn't have a lot of power th...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Man, that's hilarious. I didn't refresh the pavilion page before posting, and I missed that Harlan had posted in the 15 minutes since I'd last loaded it. It tickled me to discuss how we shouldn't call people trolls immediately until they show their true colors, and then I look and the post before it...
