Harlan:

My editor and I think that an Anthopology 101 column on what is almost certainly a unique anthology is a *good* thing. Would you be willing to be interviewed for it?

In re: potential Dialogue

Name: Bud Webster Source: unca20080731.htm Harlan: I sent Mark K., BULLETIN editor, a note about your request to be relieved of the task, and he was sympathetic and understanding (as I was certain he would be). No problems here. So, if is, is; if is not, is not. You've got my number if things chang...

Proposed project and personal perspective, sans pejoritives.

Name: Bud Webster Source: unca20080731.htm M'Lud: It's likely that we won't have to bother ourselves for at least a six-pack of weeks, which will put me very nicely on the other side of my more pressing deadlines (like the second part of the two-part bit on some guy named Sliverborg or some such). ...

Re: Signed Book

Also, not that I'm planning on selling it, but just out of curiosity, is it worth anything? The binding is is in great shape, the front cover isn't bad at all, but the back one is a bit worn. And the pages are quite yellowed. I suppose I wouldn't value it any less if it wasn't worth a penny, but it...

Considering how much help you've been in the past, it's not a problem. That's why I asked here instead of just showing up on your doorstep with 16 hours of blank tape.

Name: Bud Webster

Harlan:

I'm preparing a two-part article on Bob's work as an anthologist from 1966-1983, much along the lines of the one I did on Fred Pohl, for the SFWA BULLETIN. Can I hit on you for a few over-the-phone quotes, at a time when it's convenient?

Second, I can't find the reference, but I thought I heard Ellison refer disparagingly to this -- did the editors actually obtain rights to the articles they dug up? As I recall it, Harlan didn't object to the original printing, but the second one, for which he was neither consulted nor compensated....
