Re: Wathcya watchin'?
I'm definitely going to watch DJANGO UNCHAINED. Did you know that a slave graveyard was found in New York City? The bones of the slaves showed how chunks of bone were pulled out by overworked muscles. Yeah. Funny that Spike Lee objects when he nailed the whole "circle jerk" aspect of racis...

Re: Wathcya watchin'?
Thank you for the input, Steve and Frank. I have to admit, I'm in a state of disconnect right now about the clips because...I just watched CABIN IN THE SKY (1943) on Amazon Prime. In both cases, these films are white directors' and screenwriters' views of African-Americans. I enjoyed CABIN IN THE SK...

Did you like DJANGO UNCHAINED? It's on my list, but I tend to get horrid visions from films that are too violent. What would you recommend? I didn't have a problem with KILL BILL.

Steve -- I didn't know you had an ER trip in Vegas! Sounds very scary! Good for you for grabbing the bull by the horns and taking on such an ambitious program. Are you working out as well? Let's just go with the short version: Too many blood thinners in the interest of "Heart Health" coup...

Re: SCIENCE VS RELIGION
Islam, however, actually promises rewards for mayhem. If I may, Islam doesn't promise rewards for mayhem. On the contrary, there are very strict rules for the conduct of war in the Qur'an. However, what Islam lacks is something like the hierarchical system of Christianity, specifically Catholicism,...

It's funny, Mark. Yul Brynner was at the top of my list too, and then I remembered THE VOYAGE. But he's definitely a scene-stealer.

Steve! Way to go!
Are you feeling well? I've never heard of this diet, but it does sound...daunting.
Doug, wow, what a whammy! Give your Mom an extra hug from me. Sending (((((((good vibrations ))))))) from CA!

I consider it an irony of the first degree that the greatest living film actor, and the most robbed (for "Lawrence of Arabia" and "The Lion in Winter") could also be a ham of the first rank ("Creator"). Of course, if you've seen "The Stunt Man" you know what a...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.
Only 19% of Los Angelenos bothered to vote in the last Mayoral election! Bing, frickin', O! In other words, 10-11% of the populace. The problem is with the people, Frank. Not the system of government. Anarchy is not the answer, it's simply a different set of inequalities and problems. Anarchy would...
