Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Well, I have now completed 56 orbits around the Sun. I'm not where I thought I'd be by now, but hell -- I'm not dead. That's something! Chuck Right behind you, pal. I'll be wrapping up my 55th orbit in a couple of months. I know it kind of sucks not being a spring chicken anymore, but on the other ...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

This is the ending to the film Umberto D. If you don't want the spoiler, then don't watch, but this starts out as the saddest scene in American movie history and becomes the most uplifting and hopeful. It certainly is a great scene from a great film. But not from American movie history. This one be...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Thanks for the elucidation. It begins to make a bit more sense to me. I still don't quite see how it's going to work when a whole gaggle of us start sending in posts at more or less the same time, given that the Pavilion wasn't built to be a chat room, but, like I said, I'm a little slow.

Summit?

Okay, I can be a bit thick sometimes, and I have no doubt that this is one of those times, but I have to ask. Is anyone else mystified as to what exactly it is that our Uncle Harlan wants us to do on Tuesday? I'm not talking about the subject of the "summit." He's playing that close to the...

Re: MadCon

Hello all, I had pretty much written off Madcon as a financial impossibility but, mirabile dictu , it now looks like I'll be able to go after all. In working out the arrangements, I ran across this little tidbit. Apparently the nice people at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (by way of InterContinental Hotels...

Steve cut my hair once. I won't tell you which one. D. You won't tell us which hair he cut? Too slow, Loftus. D. p.s. Steve J., I am so going to catch you giving the wrong year for the release of a film. So, you think you can catch me in an error? Many have tried. And, come to think of it, they hav...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

How the heck do those "t" sounds get in there, when there are no t's in the name as written? My theory is that the T sounds that were long ago evicted from the English words "castle" and "mortgage" had to go somewhere, so they ended up in this volcano's name, where the...

Name: Steve Jarrett Source: unca20100401.htm Oh, dear. I seem to have gotten something on my shoe walking through the Pavilion. From its consistency and redolence, its source is unmistakable, and yet I'm puzzled because I'm pretty sure that our host and his good lady do not keep barnyard animals on...
