Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

Wow I would like to think our security folks had enough chops to take down the North Korean internet but it was probably some 14 year old Seth Rogan fan in Minneapolis. Of course I have to wonder how complicated can their network be? I'm sure our spooks will learn a lot by watching how long it takes...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Is there going to be an announcement over at the Pavilion? If so I hope we'll not carry the "blame" stuff over there. What's done is done.

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

It's time isn't it? If this place is causing grief to those who run and manage it then it's time to move on. Frank I am convinced there is no guile in you. You genuinely don't realize how you come across. You seem to lack the ability to step back and look at what you write and intuit how it will sou...

Re: SCIENCE VS RELIGION

You are basically saying that words in a book can actually make somebody want to kill, even children? Jesus, Frank you simply cannot be that naïve! Of course they can! And do! These folks believe . They're not kidding or pretending. It not a game to them and their religion is not a jumped up self-h...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

An article on the pros and cons of regulating the Internet as a public utility. http://arstechnica.com/business/2014/12/worst-case-scenario-why-the-cable-lobby-is-scared-of-becoming-a-utility/ “I think the thing that worries people [the ISPs] the most is probably rate regulation,” Morris said. No ki...

Re: SCIENCE VS RELIGION

An interesting article about a study illustrating how people cling to beliefs when they’re threatened by facts. http://arstechnica.com/science/2014/12/why-do-we-cling-to-beliefs-when-theyre-threatened-by-facts/ Judging from the comments the original graphic accompanying the article showed someone ha...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Lori you are very kind to say those things but basically I'm just trying to figure out what the hell's going on. When I hear about people who sound like they might know I go listen to what they have to say. Still don't know what's going on but I have learned a lot about what other people think is go...

Re: Time Intersellar Article

I didn't think Interstellar was stupid. ( Independence Day was stupid. Red Planet was stupid.) It was obviously a very personal project for Christopher Nolan and had some interesting ideas. What undercut it for me were the plot holes and lapses in logic. That kind of stuff matters to me more than co...

Re: Wathcya watchin'?

How can you have a spoiler in a 3000 year old biblical story? I would tell you but it would be a spoiler. Ok it's the way the "relationship" between Moses and God is depicted. I like the scene where Moses "receives" the ten commandments. But even that is undeveloped. Scott...

Re: Wathcya watchin'?

I saw EXODUS:GODS AND KINGS over the weekend. I can't help it. I have to go see all the Bible movies. There was one thing I really liked about it that I can't tell you because it would be a spoiler. Overall I had the same reaction I do with all of Ridley Scott's movies. Big, beautiful and ultimately...
